Pamela Goldsmith, adjunct professor of music, was born and raised in New England where she received her first musical training on the violin. She developed a passion for the classical guitar after an introduction at the age of 16.
Goldsmith studied guitar at the University of Maine in Orono, earning a bachelor's degree in music, and in 1991 won the Downeast Classical Guitar Competition held at the university. During the following years Goldsmith lived in New England teaching, performing and working in a musical instrument store.
In 1996 Goldsmith moved to Portland where she earned a master's degree from Portland State University in 2002 and was the graduate assistant of the guitar department at PSU. Since then Goldsmith has been teaching guitar classes and private instruction at Linfield College.
