8/14/2003 Two Linfield speakers earn all-conference honors
McMINNVILLE ? Two Linfield College forensics students were recognized with all-conference honors by the Northwest Forensics Conference.
The awards are determined by performances at three designated tournaments held throughout the region in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, according to Jackson Miller, director of forensics and assistant professor of communication arts at Linfield.
Charlotte Brockman of Birmingham, Ala., was named to first team for NFC division II. Brockman, who will be a junior majoring in theatre at Linfield in the fall, is president of Linfield's chapter of the Pi Kappa Delta forensics honorary. Last year, she placed first in senior poetry at the fall 2002 University of Oregon tournament. She also earned a third ranking in open prose at the fall 2002 Pacific Lutheran University tournament and placed third in storytelling at the spring 2003 Western Washington University tournament.
Tracy Forrester of Astoria received honorable mention for division II. Forrester, who graduated from Linfield in June with a communication degree, placed first in open communication analysis at the spring 2003 Oregon State University tournament. She also placed fifth in open communication analysis and was the top novice speaker at the spring 2003 Western Washington University tournament.
