Elizabeth Brombach of Olympia, Wash., will present a senior vocal recital Saturday, May 24, at 8 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium. Matt Gladden of McMinnville will present a senior piano recital Sunday, May 25, at 8 p.m., also in Melrose Auditorium.
The performances will mark the culmination of the students? education as they graduate from Linfield on June 1. Brombach and Gladden will both earn bachelor of arts degrees in music performance.
Brombach, a mezzo-soprano, will perform pieces by Handel, Bach, Beethoven and Mendelssohn, along with several other composers during her recital. She performed as a member of the Tumwater High School Show Choir and Concert Choir in Tumwater, Wash., where she was selected for the All-State choir in 1999. At Linfield she has performed with the Linfield Concert Choir and in the Opera Workshop. In the fall of 2001 she studied in Vienna, Austria, where she had the opportunity to perform with Vienna Philharmonic horn player, Mag. Roland Horvath, at the Austro-American Institute of Education.
Gladden a native of Central Oregon has been practicing piano since age 11. He is a six-time recipient of the Sunriver Music Festival?s Young Artist Scholarship program. In 2002 Gladden won the first Sunriver Music Festival Concerto Competition, where he was granted the opportunity to perform with the festival orchestra. He began his college career at Walla Walla College where he studied under Debra Richter, and will complete his studies at Linfield under Jill Timmons, professor of music and artist-in-residence. In the fall Gladden will pursue graduate studies at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
