FRIDAY, MAY 2

BSU BARBECUE: The 10th annual Black Student Union Barbecue will be held Friday, May 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., near Memorial Fountain on Linfield Avenue. Tickets are $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for Linfield students on the meal plan and $4 for children 12 and under. For more information, call 503-883-2574.

FACULTY RECITAL: Joan Haaland Paddock on trumpet and Greg Bowers on organ will perform Friday, May 2, at 8 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium at Linfield College. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call 503-883-2275.

LECTURE: Martivón Galindo, an artist and writer in exile from war-torn El Salvador, will speak on "The Poetics of Belonging: Three Bay Area American Artists" Thursday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Jonasson Hall, lower level of Melrose Hall at Linfield College. EXHIBIT: Artwork by Linfield College students and a professor will be on display May 14 through June 1 during "Handle with Curiosity," the final exhibit of the year at the Fine Art Gallery in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center. An opening reception will be held Wednesday, May 14, at 7 p.m.
