Solomon will speak on "Is Integrity Just Another Business Advantage?" Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. On Thursday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m. he will speak on "Is Love Biology or is it a Social Invention?" Both programs are free and open to the public.
Solomon is also a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers. A specialist in post-Kantian continental philosophy, he has published extensively on ethics, business ethics, emotions and the history of philosophy. His more than 30 books include "The Passions," "Ethics and Excellence" and "A Better Way to Think About Business." He co-authored "What Nietzsche Really Said," along with two widely used collections on Nietzsche. His most recent books are "Spirituality for the Skeptic," published this year, and "Not Passion's Slave," scheduled to be published next year.
He is currently writing a book on Nietzsche and virtue ethics. His more than 140 articles have appeared in many of the leading philosophy journals and in numerous books. Before coming to Texas, he taught at Princeton, UCLA and the University of Pittsburgh. He is a yearly visitor at the University of Auckland.
He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
