9/18/2002 Faculty music recital to kick off Linfield's fall schedule
McMINNVILLE ? Faculty from the Linfield College music department will kick off the fall schedule with a recital, Songs of the Soul, on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 8 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium.
The performance is free and open to the public.
Jackie Van Paepeghem, soprano, Kathy Bach Ganske, piano, and Karen Vincent, violin, will be featured. Works include G.F. Handel arias and excerpted melodies from Lili Boulanger's "Les clairieres dans le ciel," a cycle of 13 songs. The recital will also include songs by Leonard Bernstein.
Van Paepeghem, a member of the Linfield faculty since 1996, has been featured in recitals at Linfield and throughout the Northwest. She has appeared as guest soloist with the Linfield Masterworks Chorale. At Linfield, Van Paepeghem teaches private voice, voice class and most recently has become the conductor of the Linfield Women's Vocal Ensemble. She also serves as a music minister for St. James Church in McMinnville.
Ganske has been on the Linfield faculty for many years as primary accompanist for the Masterworks Chorale, and is currently serving as interim organist at First Baptist Church in McMinnville. She has also accompanied several musical productions at Gallery Theatre.
Vincent teaches upper strings in the Linfield Music Department and is a primary member of the Linfield Chamber Orchestra.
