4/30/2009 Jazz groups perform at Linfield
McMINNVILLE – The Linfield College Music Department will host a Jazz Night concert on Friday, May 15, at 8 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield. A pre-concert jazz combo will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Double Vision, Linfield’s vocal jazz ensemble led by Dana Libonati, adjunct professor of music, will perform a number of selections including “Do I Do” by Stevie Wonder, “Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens” by New York Voices, “Just To Be Loved” by Al Jarreau and “Fragile” by Sting.
The Linfield Jazz Band, under the direction of Steve Kravitz, adjunct professor of music, will perform pieces including “Cerulean Blue” featuring senior Alex Freauff, “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” featuring senior Amy Shoemaker, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Oh! Johnny Oh! Johnny Oh!” featuring freshmen Jesse Goergen, Kayla Wilkens and Chelsea Janzen recreating the Andrew Sisters.
The pre-concert jazz combo will include sophomore Corey Darnielle, senior Tyler Ramm-Gramenz, junior Brynn Hurdis, sophomore Ludwig Kohut and junior Jesse Hughey.
