4/27/2009 Linfield students to present senior recitals
McMINNVILLE – Two Linfield College music students will present senior recitals May 2 and 3. Both performances will be held in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield.
Andy Munn of Baker City will present a senior composition recital on Saturday, May 2, at 7 p.m. The concert will feature Munn and other Linfield students in a piano solo, percussion fugue, string quartet, minimetal, brass quartet, saxophone and violin duet, cello solo and woodwind quartet. The concert will also include “The Bells,” featuring text from an Edgar Allen Poe poem and composed of cluster-chords, and “Rooster and Pig,” which includes a bassoon and trumpet telling the story of the interaction between a rooster and a pig.
Tenor Sam Dinsmore of Olympia, Wash., will present a senior recital on Sunday, May 3, at 8 p.m. The recital will feature songs from the 16th to 21st centuries by Salvatore Rossa, Giulio Caccini, John Dowland, Robert Schumann, Ben Moore, Richard Hundley, Kurt Weill and five Greek folk songs from Maurice Ravel.
The recitals, which are free and open to the public, will mark the culmination of their musical educations at Linfield. For more information contact the Linfield College Music Department at 503-883-2275.
