David Massey, Linfield College chaplain, and Bill Apel, professor of religion, are coordinating the program which will be broken into three sections. Pairs of individuals representing the McMinnville community and Linfield faculty and students will offer thoughts around the program's theme of remember, reflect and respond. Those attending will be given an opportunity to respond through silent prayer and meditation. Apel will present a brief address following those presentations.
Music will be provided by members of the Linfield and McMinnville communities. The music will include a performance of "Broken Dove" by the Linfield Concert Choir. The song was written by Linfield alumna Lynda Lybeck last year three days following the events of Sept. 11. It was initially performed by the choir at the Sept. 14 prayer service last year and has since been performed around the western United States.
The service will end by offering those attending an opportunity to write their thoughts and post them on a banner that will be displayed at other events throughout the coming year.
