4/14/2009 Linfield College hosts annual luau
McMINNVILLE – Traditional food and entertainment from Hawaii will be featured at the 37th annual Linfield College Hawaiian lu’au Saturday, April 25, in the Ted Wilson Gymnasium at Linfield College.
The Linfield Hawaiian Club hosts the event, which includes dinner, show and a country store. This year’s theme is “Ho'okahi Pu'uwai,” which means “one heart, one team.”
The Hawaiian dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Rutschman Field House. The menu includes kalua pig, teriyaki chicken, steamed white rice, lomi salmon, tossed greens, pineapple and haupia, a coconut-milk based dessert. There will also be a shaved ice stand. The country store will be open during dinner and is also located in the field house. The store will have Hawaiian jewelry, candies, bags and more.
The doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Ted Wilson Gymnasium. The entertainment will feature contemporary and traditional performances from Hawaii, Tahiti and New Zealand.
Tickets will be sold daily at Linfield outside of Walker Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and in Dillin Hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students, and children two and under are free. Tickets sold at the door will be an additional $3. Tickets can also be purchased by emailing email@example.com.
