4/13/2009 Linfield anthropology presents exhibit of collections

McMINNVILLE – The vast world of collecting is explored in “Packrats for Posterity,” an exhibit showing now through May 29 at the Linfield College Anthropology Museum in the foyer of Walker Hall at Linfield.

The exhibit, designed and installed by Linfield students in the “Museums: Exhibiting Cultures” class, features artifacts ranging from commemorative items to archaeological specimens to objects reflecting other cultures. The exhibit aims to show what lies hidden deep within closets and attics that can be displayed for all to see. “Packrats for Posterity” includes items such as Native American bolo ties, Navajo rugs, Pokemon cards, commemorative memorabilia, geological specimens, excavated archaeological artifacts and more.

Museum hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information contact Tom Love, anthropology department chair, at tlove@linfield.edu, 503-883-2504.
