President Thomas L. Hellie makes the case for helping Oregon’s neediest students in an opinion piece in the Statesman Journal newspaper. Some 400 Linfield College students will receive $80 reductions in the state-funded Oregon Opportunity Grant. In a letter to each student, Hellie explained that Linfield would cover the shortfall of $32,720, with the help of gifts from our faculty, staff, trustees, alumni and friends. Here, Hellie explains the importance of supporting Oregon’s students.
