Campus Clubs
Linfield offers several opportunities for student membership and participation in campus clubs. A
few are listed here.
Blue Dot Society
The Blue Dot Society’s mission statement cites three specific ways of promoting
interest in health sciences: Through academic activities, community service,
and friendship. The society’s goal is to reach out to our surrounding
community while providing our members an opportunity to gain experience in environmental,
social, and healthcare issues. Friendships are cultivated during our biweekly
meetings, while guest speakers help further club members’ understanding
of a wide variety of academic issues.
Past activities include:
• Monthly Red Cross blood drives
• Set-up of Friendly House pre-school
• Meridian Park Hospital Kid’s Health Fair
• SOLV watershed restoration
• Fundraisers for needy families
• Adopt-a-family for the holiday season.

Holistic Health Interest Group
The Holistic Health Interest Group is dedicated to learning about and spreading knowledge related to holistic health care and medicine. Given the widespread use of these health practices among the general public, we can expect to encounter them as healthcare professionals. It is important to have an understanding and appreciation of these practices so as to better serve our clients. We have had guest speakers on a variety of topics related to holistic health, such as acupuncture, guided imagery, chiropractics, energy healing, massage and more. Our group enjoys participating in community service activities. We also have a bulletin board by the bookstore where we post information on topics of interest, upcoming events, fundraisers and volunteer opportunities. New members are always welcome!
REUSER
REUSER stands for “Readily Enabled United Students for Environmental Restoration.” Any student is invited to attend club meetings, presentations, and projects. REUSER, strives to empower individuals to take ownership of the health of the environment. Each member is encouraged to autonomously research, implement, evaluate and teach methods of conscientiously improving the quality of our environment as a whole. Our current efforts concentrate towards improving the environment of Linfield College and of the environments inhabited by the members and affiliates.
Students who are Parents Also (S.P.A.)
S.P.A. serves students with families through support and fun, while keeping the goal of an active group that does not become a burden to maintain activity. Some of the ways that we make this group fun and supportive while not taking up too much time are:
- ‘Meetings’ are all done via WebCT so we don’t have to fit one more thing into our hectic lives. Posting can be made anytime of the day or night 24/7 and are checked on a regular basis.
- Family events are held during school downtimes such as summer break, winter break, and January term.
- A well-informed support network allows students the availability of always having someone to talk to if needed.
- Back-up babysitter list updated annually for those last minute emergencies where childcare is needed to attend class!
Student Nurses Association
LSNA is the local, Linfield Chapter, of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). We support NSNA's Mission to:
- Bring together and mentor students preparing for initial licensure as registered nurses, as well as those enrolled in baccalaureate completion programs;
- Convey the standars and ethics of the nursing profession;
- Promote development of the skills that students will need as responsible and accountable members of the nursing profession;
- Advocate for high quality, evidence-based, affordable and accessible health care;
- Advocate for and contribute to advances in nursing education;
- Develop nursing students who are prepared to lead the profession in the future.
We do this through:
- Community Service
- Career Building
- Mentorship
- Networking
- Legislative Activities
- Leadership Development
- Professional Exploration and Development
- Send Linfield students to National NSNA Conferences
- And anything else our members show interest in doing!
