Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be my roommate?

Currently a majority of rooms are single rooms. Those of you requesting double rooms must answer questions on your housing application as accurately as you can in order to try to meet similar characteristics and interests for a roommate assignment.
The Housing Office does reserve the right to double up residents if inquiries for rooms are larger than number of singles available. You will be notified by e-mail if this is to occur.

When can I move into the residence hall?

Fall semester entries will receive an e-mail from me in July.
Spring semester entries will receive an e-mail from me in November.
Summer entries will receive an e-mail from me in April.
This e-mail will include your room assignment, roommate name if applicable, dates and times for check in for fall semester.

Is family housing available?

Housing is not available for families.

What type of housing is available?

Housing is available to everyone. We are a co-ed facility. Co-ed means single sex suites on designated co-ed floors.

Who cleans my room?

You do! Residents are expected to clean their own rooms. You and your roommate have a right to expect to live at a suitable level of cleanliness. Vacuum cleaners can be checked out from the Housing Office to assist you.
Bathrooms are cleaned once weekly by Good Samaritan Hospital Housekeeping staff. You will be notified of the days. Your kitchens and public areas are cleaned by a regular daily housekeeper.

Is there a cafeteria or kitchens?

There is no Linfield College cafeteria on campus.  The hospital next door has a cafeteria open to Linfield students.  Meal plans can be purchased for use there.  There are also community kitchens on each floor of Loveridge housing where students can cook, eat, and store food.

What happens if I lose my keys?

Contact your R.A. or someone on the housing staff and they will temporarily assign you new keys. Return them immediately to avoid fees?

Where do I get my mail?

Individual mailboxes are located on the main floor of Loveridge Hall. Package lists are posted and stored in the Housing Manager’s office. Your address is: Loveridge Hall, 2215 NW Northrup St., Portland, OR 97210.

Will I have a phone?

Each room has an in-house phone for in-house, campus and local calls only. You will not have long distance capability on this phone unless you purchase a phone card. There is no direct access to your room phone from outside calls. Those calling you must dial 503/413-7210 and follow the instructions to transfer themselves to your room. Those instructions and your extension number will either be mailed to you or you will receive upon check in.

Will I have Internet Access?

A wireless network has been set up in Loveridge Hall. Contact Computing & Educational Media Services for information regarding minimum hardware and software requirements for getting online.
