Summer Graduation Information - August 2014

Congratulations to all candidates for graduation!  Here is important information as you conclude your BSN program. Please take a few moments to read through and be aware of these items.

Completion of Graduation Requirements

All graduation requirements must be met before your degree will be posted to your record.  Mindy Cowan has contacted students who have unfulfilled graduation requirements.  Contact Mindy, mcowan@linfield.edu, with any questions regarding graduation requirements.

Diplomas

Diplomas will be available for pick-up from the Office of Enrollment Services Tuesday, August 26, through Friday, August 29. Those not picked up will be mailed the following week to your permanent address on record.

Academic Honors

All graded courses that count towards your degree are used to determine whether you qualify for Latin honors. This includes both Linfield and transfer credit. Since final grades are not due from faculty until August 22, we are not able to identify honors recipients before then. Latin honors will be noted on your academic transcript.

OSBN Licensing Requirements

Nursing graduates seeking licensure by the Oregon State Board of Nursing may download an application packet from the OSBN website at: http://www.oregon.gov/OSBN/pdfs/form/RN-LPNexamapp.pdf  It contains detailed instructions about the requirements for completing the application.  One part of the application involves obtaining the Dean of Nursing’s signature on a Picture Identification Form (included with the packet).  Please submit this form to Jennifer Keltner in PH 301 for the Dean’s signature.  You must bring proper identification (such as a driver license or passport) with you at that time and have a passport photo attached to the form.  You are also required to submit a transcript request form (included with the packet) to the Office of Enrollment Services, Linfield College, Portland Campus.  If your transcript request form is submitted prior to graduation, your official transcripts will be delivered to the OSBN within three business days of graduation.  The OSBN will not allow you to schedule a testing date until they have received your entire application packet including all fees and official transcript provided by the school.  You must also submit your fingerprints for a national criminal background check: http://www.oregon.gov/OSBN/pdfs/form/FingerprintForm.pdf.  You may send your application and fingerprints together in the same envelope.

Registering with Pearson VUE for the NCLEX-RN

Pearson VUE is a testing agency that a consortium of state boards of nursing, including Oregon, uses to administer the NCLEX-RN exam.  You must register with Pearson VUE to take the NCLEX-RN.  Registering with Pearson VUE can be done here: http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex/.  Please note that our program code is: US80509800.

All Financial Aid Recipients—Exit Interview

Graduating students with Federal Stafford Student Loans must complete our Online Exit Counseling Session (https://studentloans.gov). You are required to complete the online Exit counseling before Friday, August 8.  Students who have Perkins or Nursing Loans will have to complete an additional online exit counseling session.  Gerardo Ochoa will provide more details in mid-April.  All online exit counseling sessions are to be completed before August 8.  If you have an outstanding loan and do not complete the Online Exit Counseling, you will not receive official transcripts or your diploma.

Clearing of Accounts

Students with outstanding financial obligations to Linfield College will not receive diplomas or official Linfield College transcripts until their accounts are cleared.

Short-Term Loans

Students with short-term loans must repay loans no later than August 16 or have made satisfactory arrangements for such payment.  If you have any questions about your short-term loan, such as amount, due date, etc., contact Freddie Chew, fchew@linfield.edu, Director of Finance and Business.   Students who do not repay these loans before graduation will not receive official transcripts or diplomas.

Student ID and Parking Permit

Student ID/Access Badges for the Portland Campus will be deactivated August 22.  Please be sure to turn in your ID badge to Portland Campus Operations (Peterson Hall 302 & 304).  These badges are property of Legacy and need to be turned in for accountability.  Parking stickers also need to be returned to Portland Campus Operations.  Please ensure both your parking sticker and ID badge are turned in before August 22.

Your E-Mail Account

Your email address will be discontinued on May 29, 2015.  If you have material you would like to keep, please download or otherwise save this information before that date.

Evaluation of Your Experience at Linfield

In the next few months, Jennifer Ballard, Director of Institutional Research will reach out to you to invite you to complete the graduating senior survey. This survey collects information about your immediate post-Linfield plans as well as your use of and satisfaction or dissatisfaction with Linfield’s academic program, supporting services, and other key experiences. Please consider completing the survey when it reaches you. Faculty and administrators at the Portland Campus use this information to set priorities for improving the student experience.
