Nursing

The nursing major is a transfer-only program located on the Portland Campus in vibrant Northwest Portland. Students apply to the nursing program after completing pre-requisites at Linfield College-McMinnville Campus, other 4-year colleges and universities, or community colleges. Successful completion of coursework with a cumulative BSN GPA of 2.5 or higher guarantees progression to the next academic level in the nursing program.

Nursing school is challenging, but the small student to faculty ratio in your classrooms and clinicals and the availability of nursing advisors ensures personal contact and supports each student’s academic success.

Linfield College nursing students experience an integrated community-focused curriculum that combines clinical nursing experience balanced with courses in the humanities, laboratory sciences and social and behavioral sciences.

Students complete nearly 1000 hours of clinical experience in diverse settings. In addition to clinical rotations with direct faculty supervision, students work with RN preceptors in a variety of clinical sites throughout the curriculum. Precepted clinical experiences include a senior practicum in an area of interest during the last semester of the program.

Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
