Programming and Support

Support for English-Language Learners

We support and assist nursing students whose second language is English and are working on developing their English communication skills.  We help students in the following ways:

• Writing assistance (APA, grammar, word usage, understanding research)
• Oral communication (medical terminology, pronounciation, engaging in conversation)

We use teaching techniques developed by the English Language and Culture Program at Linfield College.

Community Engagement

Inclusion and Access believes in creating health communities and promotes efforts to do so.  We promote student-led efforts to improve the holistic health of populations in need through community engagement and service. Activities include:

• Outreach to future college and nursing students
• Participation in community events, workshops, and conferences
• Engaging with Portland-area non-profit organzations
• Volunteering at events which address health disparities
