Concentrations

As a Student in the Health Sciences major, you may choose to (but are not required to) concentrate in a specific area by taking courses (at least 18 credits) in a specific area of study.

Concentrations help you and your advisors design an academic program to meet the requirements of specific graduate and/or professional programs. If you are interested in completing a concentration, make that known to your advisor as early as possible in your academic program at Linfield College to ensure sufficient time to complete the required courses.

The concentration should reflect your future educational and/or career goals.

  • Students interested in a professional medical program (e.g., medical school, physician’s assistant program, physical therapy program, etc.), a graduate program in biology or a career in medical equipment sales should concentrate in Medical Biology / Human Biology.
  • Students interested in a career in health care administration (e.g., hospital, medical clinic, long term care administration) or a graduate program in health care administration should concentrate in Health Care Leadership and Management.
  • Students interested in a graduate program or a career in public health or environmental health should concentrate in Environmental Health / Public Health.
