PURPOSE
As the Oregon population continues to become increasingly more diverse, Oregon is in high need of qualified culturally competent nurses, especially bilingual and bicultural nurses. To address this critical need in the nursing workforce, Linfield College – Portland Campus has received funding and developed the Ayudando Podemos (AP) program, a comprehensive program that supports students from underrepresented populations in the nursing workforce through a successful nursing education. Part of the AP program includes funding for the Ayudando Podemos Stipend and Scholarship that is provided by the Human Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) through the Nursing Workforce Diversity (NWD) program. Linfield College – Portland campus is committed to educating nurses who are culturally competent.
