Please read the instructions below before linking to NursingCAS.

NursingCAS

NursingCAS is an independent organization that processes applications for Linfield College.  They will charge a fee to process the application materials you provide them.  This fee is not optional and will not be waived.  Your NursingCAS application must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the stipulated deadline date.  Transcripts and references may be received and processed by NursingCAS after this date, but you will not be able to submit the application itself after this deadline.

Transcripts

Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended must be sent directly to NursingCAS from the issuing institution with the NursingCAS transcript request form attached.  NursingCAS will provide this form to you under the section "Secondary Schools and Colleges."  You are required to use the NursingCAS form when you submit your transcript request so that it can be sent directly to NursingCAS by the issuing institution.  Transcripts sent to Linfield College will not be processed.

Letter of Recommendation

A letter of recommendation must be submitted directly to NursingCAS by the individual you enter as reference.  NursingCAS will send this request electronically to the individual you indicate.  Only one letter of recommendation is required.  Letters of recommendation sent directly to Linfield will not be accepted.

Work/Volunteer History

Your work/volunteer history should be provided where indicated on the NursingCAS site.  Alternatively, you may upload your resume to NursingCAS.

Personal Statement

Linfield College is interested in who you are as a person, beyond your grades and work history.  Your personal statement will consist of responses to four questions that address your experience in leadership, knowledge and creativity, overcoming hardship, discrimination and injustice resolution.  In each instance, focus on an experience that is important to you.  Your responses should be concise, to the point, and at the same time, personal.  They do not have to be education or nursing related, but should help us get to know you as a potential member of the Linfield community.

There is a link to personal statement instructions on the NursingCAS site. The personal statement is limited to 5,000 characters combined, so you may want to draft your responses in Word and then copy and paste them to the NursingCAS personal statement section.

In 5,000 characters or less, please respond to these four questions:

  1. Leadership/group contributions:  Describe examples of your leadership experience in which you have significantly influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.
  2. Knowledge in a field/creativity:  Describe any of your special interests and how you have developed knowledge in these areas. Give examples of your creativity; the ability to see alternatives; take diverse perspectives; come up with many, varied, or original ideas; or willingness to try new things.
  3. Dealing with adversity:  Describe a challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to address this challenge. Did you include others in your problem solving?  If so, what roles did they play?  What resources did you access?  What did you learn about yourself?
  4. Handling systemic challenges:  Describe your experiences facing or witnessing discrimination or an injustice. Tell us how you responded and what you learned from those experiences and how they have prepared you to contribute to the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing.
