Computing and Educational Media ServicesComputer Lab and ClassroomLab Hours Computing and Educational Media Services supports the Computer Lab in Loveridge Hall and the Computer Classroom in Peterson Hall. The lab is located at the south end of the second floor of Loveridge Hall. The Computer Classroom is located in room 108 in Peterson Hall (PH108), in the classroom area beneath the courtyard. The computer lab includes a total of 20 Windows computers and nine Macintosh computers. The Windows computers are Intel Core 2 Duo-based computers operating with Windows XP that provide the standard software (Microsoft Office 2003, Firefox) along with computer-assisted instruction programs. Evolve/Reach (HESI) exams are also conducted on the Windows computers. Eight of the Macintosh computers are Intel iMacs with OS X that also provide the standard software (Office 2004, Firefox); the ninth, G4-based, has standard software plus Photoshop and is connected to a color scanner. An additional Macintosh, located in staff offices, is available during staff hours. It is equipped with both a color scanner and a slide scanner along with Photoshop. Three networked Hewlett-Packard laser printers are available in the lab area The computer classroom, PH108, provides 12 desktop computers in a standard classroom setting. Ten of the computers are AMD Athlon-based operating with Windows 2000. The two Macintoshes are G3-based, on OS X. Both sets of computers provide the standard software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a Web browser - the Windows computers also include Microsoft Access, the student version of SPSS, and ARC GIS software. A networked Hewlett-Packard laser printer is available in the classroom. Computers in both the computer lab and the classroom have full network access to all Linfield network services and to the Internet. Basic support for the computer lab is provided by student technicians employed by CEMS. CEMS staff provide the primary support for computers and applications in the lab and the classroom. The computer lab is open weekdays, evenings, and weekends during the academic year - check the schedule for current hours. The computer classroom is available for use as an open lab on weekdays, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., when there are no classes in session in the room - check the classroom schedule. We ask that students who use the computer classroom as a lab, complete their work and leave the room 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start-time for any class scheduled in the room. |
