Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended must be sent directly to NursingCAS from the issuing institution using the NursingCAS transcript request form.  NursingCAS will provide this form to you under the section "Secondary Schools and Colleges."  You are required to use the NursingCAS form when you submit your transcript request so that the transcript can be sent directly to NursingCAS.  Transcripts sent to Linfield College will not be processed.

High School transcripts are not required.

Provide work and volunteer history where indicated on the NursingCAS site.  This is required.

Personal Statement

There are instructions to add a personal statement on the NursingCAS site.  For your application to Linfield, the following exercise will serve as your personal statement.

Linfield College is interested in who you are beyond grades and employment history.  This exercise consists of a series of short-answer essay questions that address your experience in the following areas: leadership, knowledge and creativity, overcoming hardship, discrimination and injustice resolution.  In 5,000 characters or less (including spaces), please respond to the four questions below.  For each, focus on experiences that are important to you.  Make your response concise and personal.  Your response does not have to be education or nursing related, but should give us the opportunity to know you as a potential member of the Linfield community.  (You may want to draft your response in Word, then copy and paste your final response into NursingCAS.)

1. Leadership/Group contributions: Describe examples of your leadership experience in which you have significantly influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.

2. Knowledge in a field/creativity: Describe any of your special interests and how you have developed knowledge in these areas.  Give examples of your creativity; the ability to see alternatives; take diverse perspectives; come up with many, varied, or original ideas; or willingness to try new things.

3. Dealing with adversity: Describe a challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to address this challenge.  Did you include others in your problem solving?  If so, what roles did they play?  What resources did you access?  What did you learn about yourself?

4. Handling systemic challenges:  Describe your experiences facing or witnessing discrimination or an injustice.  Tell us how you responded, what you learned from those experiences and how they have prepared you to contribute to the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing.

STEP 2: Upload supplemental materials to NursingCAS.

Supplemental materials consist of:

1.  Signature Form.  There are two signature lines on the form.  One attests to your computer proficiency and the other to the authenticity of your application materials.

2.  Prerequisite Course Checklist.  The checklist documents the specific courses you completed to fulfill prerequisites and when you plan to complete any remaining prerequisites.  If you do not fill in prerequisite completion dates in the "term to be taken" column, the form is incomplete.

Upload both completed forms to the "document upload" section of your NursingCAS application.

STEP 3: Pay your supplemental application fee.

Pay the $20 Linfield supplemental application fee online.  This fee is in addition to the NursingCAS fee.

STEP 4: Submit NursingCAS application.

Your application is not complete until you make your final submission to NursingCAS. This must be done by February 3, 2014, 5:00 p.m., Pacific time.
