Just who does it, Facilities Services or Auxiliary Services?

My desk drawer doesn't work, I should call Facilities Services Department, right? Wrong. I need to get the extra dresser in my room moved out, its in the way. Call Facilities Services Department, right? Wrong. My window blind won't stay up, call Facilities Services Department, right? Wrong. It doesn't seem to make much sense, but let us try to help you figure this all out. Who you should call for services can be explained in this way.

Facilities Services Department

is responsible for the building and its systems. This means the walls, the doors, the locks and keys, the water and plumbing, the heat, (washer and dryer requests go to the Housing Office!), the electricity, the windows and screens, the floors and carpets, the elevator, the alarms (with Campus Safety), the ventilation, the pest control, the landscape and grounds, the cleaning maintenance and repair of all of the above. (This includes built-in bookshelves.) We also process requests for the use of college owned vehicles. If it is one of these, Facilities Services does it.

If not,

Auxiliary Services

is responsible for the furnishings and equipment of the buildings. The chairs, the tables, the desks, the sofas, the beds, the window blinds and other pieces that go into the building to make it functional for a purpose. They also provide the repair, maintenance, handling, set up, and moving of all of the above. If you would like to have furniture removed from your residence hall, you must get the proper form from your resident advisor. They also schedule the use of all common areas, providing the set up and breakdown of meeting furniture. Throughout the academic year, and during the summer months, this same group provides broad support for visiting groups to campus. If it is one of these, Auxiliary Services does it.

Hopefully this will clear up any doubts about who to contact when you need to decide just who to contact.
