Wow, I am so far behind everybody else it isn’t even funny. I must apologize profusely to you all, I’m not usually like this, I’ve had some terrible problems pertaining to the posting of my blog… it turns out that I was posting my entry over and over again on my sample account that I made before this project started so I could see how the site worked. Anyway, that’s not important anymore since I’ve gotten this all worked out
What is important is that I’ve got a duty to tell you about what I’ve been doing here at Linfield (and the surrounding area) for the past two months!
I guess I’ll start with my dorm, since it’s a triple it is huge in comparison to the average dorm you’d find on campus here. This means there is plenty of room to spare even with both mine and my roommates stuff spread everywhere, but it’s a lot more difficult to motivate oneself to clean since there is so much space to hide all your junk haha. What makes my experience at Linfield different than what it seems the norm is, is that I spend a whole load of time off campus. I love the town of McMinnville and I have some close friends in Portland, so while I still enjoy some of the stuff that goes on here I’m very frequently out doing things like the Zombie Walk in Portland (which was amazing, a whole bunch of people danced to Thriller and walked around. The drive home was great because I did my best to drive along side other cars, the looks of confusion on their faces were priceless).
Oh, justaquickthoughtrightherebutIwillll HOPEFULLY have some pictures up in my next blog entry. My friend has got a few but she can be a bit of a flake now and then and I am willing to bet that she has forgotten about them already.
Anyway, outside of the dorm room Linfield’s pretty awesome too. I love the campus, it’s one of the main reasons I decided to come here, and one of my favorite discoveries I’ve made while roaming around is that the coffee shop in Riley Hall plays jazz music! I’m a fan of this, if that is not apparent from my last statement, and the coffee isn’t half bad so I find myself acclimating towards the big cushy couches in the corner what I really need to get some homework done. Ack! I almost forgot about this sort-of-walking-path-thing-a-ma-bob that I found one night when I couldn’t sleep. It’s really neat, there are a couple of entrances on campus but it’s easier to find if you start at what I have labeled as the exit over by Albertson’s. I’ve walked there quite a few times, at least twice a week for the past three weeks, and if you go just late enough you’re liable to see quite a few deer :O (which isn’t anything new to most native Oregonians but you can get pretty close before they run away)
Umm, what else do you people out there want to hear about… I’m distraught that I can’t have pets here, I really want a sugar glider, and yeah I wanted one before Paris Hilton had one… actually ever since I figured out about that whole thing I’ve not wanted to get them because she has tarnished their name
Oh rite, yeah this is important! I go to classes. They’re alright, some of my teachers are great and some I’m not always on the same page with but in the end I’m pretty satisfied with them. I’m currently enrolled in Intro to Personality Psychology with Professor Noftle (Not what I was expecting) , Reading Critically Writing Well with Professor Ericksen (November 11th is the last day I have to physically go to class!), Introduction to Creative Writing with Professor DeTal (I wanted to write poetry, I chose the wrong class haha), Colloquium with Dr. B and peer advisor Nadia Abribesh (hands-down the best colloquium class in all of Linfield), and Yoga with Christine Kirk. I listed my yoga class last NOT because it is almost purely an elective class but because I love it so much that I am going to sign up for it every semester I am at Linfield! I LOVE that class, before I could touch my toes on a GREAT day but now I can practically bend myself into a pretzel at any given time. I find myself pining for my Tuesdays and Thursdays to come faster just so I can really relax for an hour, and the after-yoga-showers are an added perk.
I think that’s close to all I’ve really got to say in this post, I’ve been having a lot of fun here and I will make an attempt to write again soon.
