Life at Linfield — the student perspective

A tranquil kind of learning

Jan term softens the loud buzzing of our busy campus to a mere hum. It can be a time for bonding with those who stay behind or a time to take it easy before another full semester. I personally like the idea of Jan term because it gives us an opportunity to get a few prerequisites or LCs (required Linfield Curriculum) out of the way. This especially nice if you have any minors or are trying to double major.  This Jan term I was on campus taking intro to Statistic, a prerequisite for my business minor/possible double major.

With this class I learned new approaches to old material, as well as, new material I had never experienced before. The professor was very good at keeping the class entertained with stories and jokes; this particularly important in an 8 a.m. math class. While waking up was a struggle some mornings, I enjoyed being done with my class earlier and having my afternoons free. All the free time was truly a vacation from my usual busy schedule.

At first so much leisure time left me a little paranoid. I kept thinking I had something to do, a meeting to attend, or somewhere I needed to be. To know I was wrong was great. I was able to spend my new found time with the girls who were left in Grover as well as spend some quality time with my co-RA.  We had movie Mondays, impromptu trips out to dinner, a lot of laughs and just good old fashioned girl bonding. Overall, it was a good term but I’m ready to begin the new semester. Seeing all the familiar faces back on campus reminds me… it’s time for round two!
