Education: B.M., Konservatorium für Musik Bern, Switzerland; M.M., Eastman School of Music; D.M.A., Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University.
Percussionist and scholar; currently coaches percussion for the Portland Youth Philharmonic Association and teaches at Portland State University and Linfield College.
Founder and co-director of Northwest New Music, a Portland-based contemporary chamber music ensemble. Has appeared among others at Music@Menlo (the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's summer festival), the Astoria Music Festival, CalPerformances, and Stanford Lively Arts, and has performed with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Berkeley Contemporary Chamber Players, Meridian Arts Ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, and the Bern Symphony Orchestra. Recorded solo and chamber music works for the Innova, Albany, and Music@Menlo LIVE labels.
Formerly on the faculty of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of
San Francisco, where he taught courses in music theory, ear training, Western art music,
Asian music, and music of the Americas.
Teaches Applied Percussion and Percussion Methods.
