- Students who have completed MLF102 are eligible to apply to the CIDEF, the Centre International d’Études Françaises, located in Angers.
- After the completion of MLF202, students have 2 options: they may apply to the CIDEF or the AUCP, the American University Center of Provence. The AUCP is located in Aix en Provence in the South of France.
- Those who have completed 302 may apply to the aforementioned programs as well as to the IAU, the Institute for American Universities, which has programs both in Aix en Provence and Avignon.
- They may also choose to apply to the AUCP program in Marseille (International Relations – The Middle East, Political Science / Cross-Cultural Mediation). This program (offered only in spring) has a strong emphasis on Northern African Cultures. A one-week stay in Morocco is part of the program.
- Open to Linfield students who major or minor in French, upon completion of MLFR 302 (as well as to highly motivated students who have not completed that class yet, with the agreement of the French professor) the Centre Baobab in Dakar offers Intensive French, Wolof and Culture Course(s). Francophone African minors stay for a semester. Majors spend a few months at the Centre Baobab in Dakar before they move to Saint Louis to attend the Gaston Berger university.

All of these programs are home-stay in local families, which gives the students more opportunities to experience first-hand the life and culture of the country where they stay.
Read the journals of students who have studied in France:
More journals from past programs can also be read in the International Program Office's (IPO) archives, from stays in Angers, Aix and Marseille. For example, Joy Nelson '10 was in Aix-en-Provence with AUCP in Fall 2009 and won 3rd place in the 2010 IPO essay contest.
For more pictures, have a look at the photo albums of returnee students in the IPO office on the first floor of Melrose building.
