Education:

I studied journalism and film at the University of Oregon as a graduate student. I was an undergraduate English major at Southern Illinois University. Much of my mass com education is professional, earned by working for newspapers, magazines, and radio and television media.


Academic Interests:

My teaching and research interests include American mass media history with an emphasis in film history and criticism, international communications with emphases in British and Japanese free expression issues, cultural studies and writing instruction. I am also the faculty adviser for the student newspaper, the Linfield Review, and that's certainly interesting.

Education:

Brad Thompson teaches a wide variety of mass communications courses at Linfield College. He brings to the classroom 16 years of daily newspaper experience and 12 years of full-time college teaching experience. He written or edited for the Greenville (S.C.) News, Denver's Rocky Mountain News, the Philadelphia Inquirer and The Oregonian. He earned his doctorate in communications from the University of Colorado at Boulder and earned a master's degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Denver. In 2000-01 he was a Fulbright Scholar in Bulgaria.
