Review receives national award

The Linfield Review took third place in the Best in Show contest at the Associated Collegiate Press national college newspaper convention in Portland last weekend. Assistant editor junior Jillian Beaudry attended the three-day conference representing the Review.

In the four-year school, weekly tabloid size category, the Review placed after The Rice Thresher of Rice University and the Bowdoin Orient of Bowdoin College. Honorable mentions in the category were The Oracle of Hamline University, the Pipe Dream of SUNY Binghamton and Occidental Weekly of Occidental College.

ACP convention Best of Show awards are onsite competitions open only to those publications attending each convention. The Review entered the Feb. 16 edition. Contest entries were judged on the quality of reporting, writing, editing, design, photography and examples of special project reporting and editorial page leadership.

ACP is the oldest and largest national membership organization for college student journalists.

Review editors said they are extremely proud of all the editorial staff members, reporters and photographers who contributed to this issue and throughout the year.

The editorial staff will attend the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association collegiate day on May 4 at Western Oregon University, where it will be entered in many award categories ranging from general excellence to best cartooning.
