LAST LECTURE: Bob McCann, retired professor of education at Linfield College, will present a “Last Lecture” on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in 219 T.J. Day Hall at Linfield. LU’AU: Linfield College will host the 43rd annual lu’au celebration, “Home on the Islands,” Saturday, May 2, in the Rutschman Field House and Ted Wilson Gymnasium at Linfield College. A Hawaiian dinner at 5 p.m. will be followed by a live performance at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets for the performance are $15. Tickets for both the show and dinner are $25 for general admission and $28 for reserved seats. Student and senior (60+) tickets are $18 and $20, and require I.D. Children’s tickets are $10 and $13. FREDERICK DOUGLASS: The Frederick Douglass Forum on Law, Rights, and Justice at Linfield College will host a scholarly symposium on “James Baldwin, William F. Buckley Jr., and the American Dream” May 7-8 at Linfield. The event commemorates the 50-year anniversary of the classic debate between James Baldwin and William F. Buckley Jr. at the Cambridge Union. Eddie Glaude, professor of Religion and African American Studies at Princeton University will give the keynote speech “James Baldwin and #BlackLivesMatter.” All the events listed are free and open to the public.

THEATRE: Linfield College theatre students will present “A Small Family Business” May 7-9 and 14-16 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, at 2 p.m. with special prices for all moms. Tickets are $9 for full price; $7 for seniors (62+) and Linfield faculty and staff; and $5 for students; with a $2 discount on all tickets on opening night. Tickets for all moms will be $5 for the Sunday matinee on Mother’s Day. Seating is reserved. Tickets are available at http://www.linfield.edu/arts, by phone or at the Marshall Theatre Box Office. Located in the lobby of Ford Hall, the box office is open Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., and until 7:30 p.m. on performance days.
