A number of Linfield students are taking part in January Term, a four-week period of concentrated study in which students enroll in only one course. Many are heading around the world to explore other cultures, studying subjects as diverse as literary biology of the Seas of Cortez, health care in Kenya, Italian Opera from Baroque to Verismo, and religion and politics in Turkey. Other students are remaining on campus to take one of a number of classes offered this month.
January Term is one of several ways students can study abroad at Linfield, which pays the round trip air fare from Portland International Airport to the destination of the student’s first study abroad experience. Students may also choose to take part in semester or year-long study abroad programs in one of 29 locations around the world.
Linfield College ranks in the top 40 baccalaureate institutions in the nation for study abroad participation. Half of all graduates study outside the U.S.
This year’s students are studying in Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Thailand, Cameroon, Germany, Switzerland, Kenya, the Bahamas, Italy and Turkey.
