Six Wildcat teams will compete at national tournaments or championship events this month, with national honors within reach for the baseball, softball, men’s golf and women’s tennis teams, and the men’s and women’s track and field squads.
Linfield’s softball team has won 41 of 43 games so far this spring and will compete in the NCAA Division III regional playoffs starting May 12 at a site to be announced. The Wildcats are aiming for their second national title in five years. The NCAA Finals are scheduled for May 27–31 in Salem, Va.
The Wildcat baseball team is also heading to a multi-team NCAA regional playoff tournament starting May 18. Linfield won its third Northwest Conference title in four seasons while posting the program’s 20th consecutive winning season. Should the Cats advance from the regional tournament, they would compete in the NCAA Finals, May 27–31, at Appleton, Wis.
The women’s tennis team clinched the NWC’s berth to the NCAA regional tournament by unseating defending champion Whitworth. The Wildcats have earned the right to compete at a regional playoff tournament May 13–15.
On the golf course, the Linfield men’s golf team won its third NWC title in four years to lock up the conference’s invitation to the NCAA Championships, May 10–13, at Greensboro, N.C.
Led by NCAA championship-contending Catherine Street ’12 in the women’s pole vault, qualifying members of the Linfield men’s and women’s track and field squads are gearing to compete at the NCAA Championships May 26–28 at Delaware, Ohio.
