September was sleep month on Huffington Post College. Instead of warning new students about gaining the Freshman 15, the news site encouraged them to get the Freshman 8. Eight hours of sleep, that is. Adequate sleep, according to many experts, can lead to higher grades, heightened performance and better health.

But it’s not always as easy as laying your head on a pillow and drifting off. Residence halls are rife with distractions and students’ bloodstreams are stoked with caffeine. So the Post challenged students to see if they could do the seemingly impossible — get eight hours of sleep every day for one month.

Viewers tracked their progress on the Post’s Facebook page and by September’s end, seven well-rested finalists emerged, including Woginrich. They are all in the running to win a trip to New York City for the Huffington Post’s Game Changers event on Oct. 28.
