Readings at the Nick return Sept. 21

The Readings at the Nick series returns to Linfield University with J.T. Bushnell ’02, senior instructor of writing and literature at Oregon State University. Bushnell will be reading from his debut novel “The Step Back” at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21 in the Jereld R. Nicholson Library Austin Reading Room. The event is free and open to the public. Linfield University names Kerry Carmody Interim Chair of the Board of Trustees

Kerry Carmody talks at a podiumLinfield University on Tuesday announced that Vice Chair Kerry Carmody ’73 will assume a new role as Interim Chair of the Board of Trustees effective October 1. Carmody has served on the Board of Trustees since 2008, and currently serves as chair of Linfield’s $75 million “Spark Wonder” campaign, seeking to raise financial resources for endowed scholarships, faculty support and campus facilities. Performance art piece “Ground Zero: 2021” commemorates legacy of 9/11

Linfield Theatre returns to live, in-person performances this season, beginning with “Ground Zero: 2021,” an original set of performance art installations, from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 in the Ford Hall courtyard. The event is free and will take approximately 30-45 minutes to visit all the installations. “Ground Zero: 2021” will happen, rain or shine, as the installations are protected from inclement weather. Wildcat Guardian app debuts for Linfield community

As part of the Linfield University’s ongoing commitment to campus safety, Linfield Public Safety has partnered with Rave Mobile Safety to create Wildcat Guardian, a free mobile app that turns any smartphone into a personal safety device. Art, music and a fandango debut at Linfield Gallery

The Mexican Tetzkatlipoka tradition of Nawi Ollin Teotl, or the movement of four energies, is on display throughout September at Linfield University. “Xiuhmekatl,” a new exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Lucia Torres runs from Sept. 6 – Oct. 2 at the Linfield Gallery located in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 12-5 p.m. on Saturdays. Continue reading
