Gennie VanBeek, associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and associate professor of education, will serve as interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences starting Oct. 1. VanBeek, who holds a Ph.D. from Oregon State University, has been teaching in the Linfield Department of Education since 2008, focusing her research on students at the margins of public education and engaging actively in professional development opportunities for an administrative career.

The ceremony honored 86 graduates earning their Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This includes students completing an accelerated BSN program and those finishing in the RN to BSN program. Linfield Art Gallery opens year with Pete Hoffecker Mejía exhibition

installation of Hoffecker Mejia's featuring wood, steel, yarn and found itemsThe work of multimedia artist Pete Hoffecker Mejía will be on display at the Linfield Art Gallery from Aug. 29-Sept. 30, 2022. An artist talk and opening reception is at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Delkin Recital Hall in the Vivian Bull Music Center. Light refreshments will follow in the gallery. Both the monthlong exhibition and the opening reception are free and open to the public.

The exhibition, titled “Remainders,” blends patterns of Latin American visual culture, home décor and modern geometric art using wood, found objects and mixed media structures.

Gallery hours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12-5 p.m. Saturday. The Linfield Art Gallery is located in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center on the Linfield University McMinnville Campus.

“Sounds of Summer” concert to benefit music education

Concert rock violinist Aaron Meyer performs a one-night-only concert, benefiting Linfield University’s Department of Music, at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at Youngberg Hill Winery. 

The Sounds of Summer concert features a collection of songs from Meyer’s latest albums. Although classically trained, Meyer’s repertoire ranges from Mozart to Vivaldi to Queen and Led Zeppelin. He will be joined by keyboardist Jean-Pierre Garau and guitarist Ivan Danilich.  Continue reading

Tickets are required for the in-person event at the Parkrose High School Theatre. The ceremony will also be livestreamed on the Linfield University YouTube channel.

Linfield repeats as Oregon’s No. 1 college for job placement

The employment website used Department of Education College Scorecard data to evaluate colleges and universities based on job placement numbers ten years after graduation. Linfield recorded a 92.58% employment rate following its 2021 graduation. Continue reading

595 students make Spring 2022 Dean’s List

Linfield University congratulates the 595 students who earned Dean’s List honors during the spring 2022 semester.

The Dean’s List identifies undergraduate students who have earned a term GPA at least equivalent to a cum laude (at least 3.650 GPA) for a given semester. It is computed following the posting of grades at the end of each semester.

Congratulations to these distinguished scholars on earning this academic achievement.
