School of Nursing celebrates 126 soon-to-be nurses in Pinning Ceremony

As Linfield University-Good Samaritan School of Nursing’s Pinning Ceremony began, 126 soon-to-be nurses were lined up and ready to walk to the stage — but they weren’t alone. Next to each of them stood the person who would affix their Linfield school pin, symbolizing the completion of their nursing studies. The spring Pinning Ceremony, held Sunday, May 28, 2023, was the culmination of months of studying, practicing and testing – all which began admist the COVID-19 pandemic.

Linfield honors 570 graduates during Spring 2023 Commencement

Crews had precisely aligned 4,602 chairs across the vast lawn Sunday morning, and yet Linfield University’s 2023 Commencement was standing-room-only. Family members and loved ones came from throughout Oregon, New York, Hawaii and even Bolivia to celebrate the lives 570 graduates had led as they stood on the precipice of a new one. 

“This marks the transition between what was and what will be — thresholds are the site where past and present mingle, weave and take hold of each other,” said Linfield Chaplain Jeremy Richards during the invocation. “It is in the present moment that the future takes hold of the past and offers it gratitude, and where the past lets go, trusting in all the future holds.”

School of Nursing announces recipients of 2023 DAISY, staff awards

Linfield celebrates Spanglish Day on Thursday, May 11

Linfield University’s Spanglish Day event celebrates biculturalism and bilingualism through creative writing and visual art.

This year’s event includes a writing contest and an accumulation of live readings of short stories, essays and poems featuring multilingual Spanish-English stories. Linfield students and community members are invited to submit creative pieces for the writing contest. Continue reading

One Wild Day 2023 raises more than $680,000 for Linfield University

Student volunteers celebrate One Wild Day

For eight years, Linfield University has exceeded its giving day goal thanks to the generosity of its alumni, students, parents, employees and friends. The 2023 event, held May 3 and 4, 2023, was no different. The Linfield community came together to raise more than $680,000 during One Wild Day. During the 28-hour event, 680 donors made a gift, far exceeding the $550,000 goal.

19 Linfield employees complete Talent Development Program

A group of staff and faculty from across the university completed a personal leadership education program through Credo, Linfield’s partner on Moving the Needle (MTN). Offered exclusively to Credo’s MTN schools, the program promotes individual leadership growth and professional development surrounding trends and opportunities in higher education. The interactive, virtual training took place over 1.5 days. Participants completing the program earned a Credly badge.  Continue reading

Linfield students enjoyed international experiences from around the world this year, and images highlighting those opportunities are among the winners in the 32nd Annual Study Abroad Photo Contest. Organized by the International Programs Office, students submit photos in five categories and give the Linfield community the chance to vote for their favorites.
