A Viewpoints column about Linfield’s Oregon Wine History Archive was published in the News-Register. The piece was written by Rich Schmidt, director of Resource Sharing, and Rachael Woody, archivist, both at Linfield.
The Oregon Wine History Archive at Linfield College is in the process of documenting the Oregon wine industry. Unfortunately, many of the irreplaceable artifacts and historical documents that come in are dingy and dusty, and in all stages of disintegration.
A grant from the Oregon Cultural Trust supports Linfield students, who spend hours painstakingly cleaning materials so they can be preserved, but this year, their unique cultural tax credit program is up for reauthorization by the Oregon legislature. Schmidt and Woody advocated for its renewal.
The wine archive also received a recent grant from the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition.
