News-Register chronicles colorful life of new music prof

Talented baritone and music Professor Anton Belov made the journey from Russia to America, and then to Linfield College, where he is sharing his talents.

While still a student, Belov won eight international competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. That led to invitations to perform in operas and sing recitals at venues across the country.

This year he moved to Oregon to teach music at Linfield, and says, “I love it, love it, love it here.”

Belov will be staging operas at Linfield during spring semester, when Linfield’s Opera Theater Workshop prepares for its May 20 performance.

“Singers are privileged people,” he says. “We’re the only musicians who can experience music from the inside out.”
