This summer Professor Jill Timmons served as the artistic director for Musique à Beaumont, an international piano institute in France.
Timmons led master classes and gave artist-in-residence performances at the 12-day immersion institute, sponsored in part by Linfield College. The annual institute, dedicated to professional pianists, focuses on repertoire for two pianos and piano duets, and was held in the town of Mer, near Paris.
The New York Times praised Timmons in an earlier review, saying, “She is a sensitive musician … Her playing is graceful, lyrical, detailed and intimate.”
Timmons has served as artist-in residence at Linfield since 1981. Her music has been played on National Public Radio and she has performed at Carnegie Recital Hall, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Dame Myra Hess Series in Chicago and the Tanglewood Music Festival, along with solo and chamber performances throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain and Chile. Timmons’ recordings include works for solo piano, chamber music and duo piano ensemble.
