Linfield humanities teacher posts work of homeless poets, says Oregonian

Poetry posts, looking like mailboxes, have sprung up across Portland, and Linfield’s Richard Lewis has been posting the work of aspiring homeless poets.

“We tend not to realize that people in hard times are still creative and they write poetry, and it’s well for us to know that,” Lewis says.

Poetry posts, placed along sidewalks, are similar to mailboxes. They contain small boxes that open to poems posted inside.

Lewis is a former director of the Oregon Humanities Council.
