Linfield honors Hispanic heritage during afternoon celebration

Hispanic Heritage DayLinfield College will host the fourth annual Hispanic Heritage Day on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 2-5 p.m. on the intramural field behind Pioneer Hall at Linfield.

Members of the Yamhill County and Linfield communities are invited to attend the afternoon event, which recognizes September as Hispanic Heritage Month.

The event will feature entertainment including singing, dancing and games, and free food from 2-3:30 p.m. A main meal prepared by El Primo restaurant will be provided free of charge. Other food items such as fruit, snow cones and cotton candy will be offered for sale.

Music and dance entertainment will be provided by artists including the Aztec Dancers; Pedro Beltran performing salsa, merengue and montun music; Baile Folklorico Sol Azteca performing traditional Mexican Dance; and the McMinville High School Dance Team. Linfield students Hayley Martin and Patricia Vazquez will perform a Sevillano dance learned during their study abroad trip to Spain.

Games include piƱatas, Loteria and fun facts about Latin American countries. Gift certificates to local restaurants and other items will be raffled during the afternoon.
