Linfield graduates say farewell

In December, 111 students said goodbye to Linfield as part of the Linfield College Fall Commencement. Graduates originated from countries as far flung as Spain, Vietnam, Malaysia and Japan.

There were 22 candidates for bachelor’s degrees from the McMinnville Campus, 53 from the Portland Campus and 36 from the Division of Continuing Education.

Jackson Miller, associate professor of communication arts and director of forensics, presented the commencement address, ‘They Just Disappear’: Free Speech and Learning in the Global Community.

Twenty-three students graduated cum laude, with a grade point average of 3.71 to 3.86; 12 magna cum laude graduates carried a 3.87 to 3.94 grade point average; and two summa cum laude students carried a 3.95 to 4.00.
