Linfield choral ensembles to present festive Christmas favorites

Choral concertThe Linfield College Department of Music will present the annual Christmas Choral Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield.

The performance will feature various choral groups including the Linfield Concert Choir, Wildcats Men’s Glee Club and the Women’s Vocal Ensemble. The groups will perform traditional Christmas carols and music for the holidays. Featured composers include Randall Thompson, Jonathan Dove, Irving Berlin and Gustav Holst.

The choral ensembles are led by director Anna Song, Linfield assistant professor of music. Song earned her bachelor’s in composition from UCLA and her master’s in conducting from the School of Music and the Institution of Sacred Music at Yale University. She has been directing choirs and teaching music in the Portland area since 2001. She is the co-founder and artistic director of In Mulieribus, a professional women’s ensemble that focuses on the performance of early music. The ensemble has been featured on national radio programs such as Performance Today and Millennium of Music.
