Psychology Professor Tanya Tompkins is available to provide insight on youth suicide. Her research and publications have focused on suicide prevention programs in school settings and the connection between family stress and child psychosocial difficulties.
Tompkins chairs the Yamhill County Suicide Prevention Coalition and is on the state board of the Oregon chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), where she is a strong advocate for raising community awareness and implementing school-based prevention strategies, like RESPONSE.
Tompkins has been quoted in national news outlets about the controversial issue of whether psychologists should have the legal right to prescribe medications.
