Biology Professor Nancy Broshot is available to provide insight about urban forest management and the influence of urbanization on forest health in Northwestern Oregon. Her research and publications focus on Forest Park in Portland, Ore., where she has analyzed broad forest dynamics, plant and bird diversity, and threats such as invasive species.
Broshot has documented forest health since 1993 in what is the longest continuously-running research project in Forest Park. Her data on tree diversity, density and diameter at 24 sites indicates that the trees in the park are experiencing a high mortality rate.
Broshot served as a consultant on the committee that drafted the Forest Park Management Plan and was a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Forest Park Wildlife Report.
She teaches courses in environmental science and chairs the Environmental Studies program at Linfield College.
