Dr. Bakner combines neurobiology and psychology to analyze brain-behavior relationships. Current research focuses on the effect of drugs on behavior, the environmental role in drug use and abuse, and how stress affects drug addiction.
Bakner teaches courses about psychology, including the biological basis of behavior, and biopsychology, which looks, in part, at the effects of psychoactive drugs on the central nervous system.
