Linfield graduate returns to campus during Cycle Oregon Weekend

Karly Osten '11When Karly Osten returns to the Linfield College campus this weekend, she will be combining two of her favorite things – Cycle Oregon and Linfield.

More than 2,000 cyclists will embark on rides from the Linfield campus when Cycle Oregon brings its annual Weekend Ride to McMinnville July 11-13. Osten, a 2011 Linfield graduate, runs the Blogmobile for Cycle Oregon and this weekend, for the first time, she will also participate as a rider.

The Blogmobile is an RV with laptops and free Internet so cyclists can share their experiences and pictures on blogs and social media platforms.

“I was hooked,” she recalls of her first Cycle Oregon experience three years ago. “I was thoroughly impressed by the seamless operation that keeps 2,200 riders and 1,000 volunteers safe and happy.”

The event is a companion to the popular Cycle Oregon week-long ride which is held in September. This weekend features routes on Saturday of 15, 42 and 72 miles, extending southwest from McMinnville. Sunday’s routes run 19, 36 and 52 miles and head out east of McMinnville past the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum.
