MacIntosh Laptops are available and may be borrowed from the circulation desk located at the entrance of Nicholson Library for use within the library. To borrow a laptop you must be currently enrolled at or employed by Linfield College (student, faculty, or staff) with a VALID Linfield ID card. Your student status must be current in the library’s online circulation system. You will also need to sign a form each year acknowledging responsibility for the laptop while it is in your possession. To sign in to a laptop, you will need a CatNet ID and password (your Linfield email login and password). More information and details.
Reserves
The reserves system at Linfield libraries allows students to read required materials for a particular class. Faculty members may place either their own personal copy or a library book on reserve. They may also place photocopies of journal articles or past exams on reserve for 2-hour checkout periods, or on electronic reserve (e-reserve).
To place materials on reserve, fill out a Reserve Request Form
for the McMinnville or Portland campuses and return it with your materials to the Circulation Desk in the appropriate library. (Note to faculty: see Reserve copyright policies).
For e-reserves, materials should conform to the following guidelines:
- Photocopies must be on letter-size, single-sided white paper.
- Photocopies should be clean and sharp, without underlining or highlighting.
- A full bibliographic citation must be included on the first page of the material.
- Whenever possible, either landscape or portrait mode should be maintained throughout.
- Documents submitted electronically must be in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF format and should be emailed to library-circulation@linfield.edu. A hard copy of a Reserve Request Form must be submitted to the Circulation Desk before any processing can take place.
Students can find out what is on reserve for a particular class by selecting Course Reserve Readings via the Libraries web page. Search by keyword, professor or course name/number.
Fines for overdue reserve materials are $1.00 per hour for 2 hour reserves and $2.00 per day for 1 day reserves.
Photocopying Services
Jereld R. Nicholson Library - McMinnville Campus
Jereld R. Nicholson Library contains four photocopiers and two microfilm reader/printers for patron use. Patrons must do their own copying and individuals using the copiers/printers are responsible for any infringement of copyright laws.
The photocopiers cost $.05 per copy. A five dollar photocopy card may be purchased at the Circulation desk; students can charge this $5.00 to their accounts. This allows patrons the convenience of carrying a card rather than loose change. Alternatively, a $1 photocopy card may be purchased from the card vending machine in the East Copy Center (near the circulation desk); patrons may also add money on to an existing card via the card vending machine.
The microfilm reader/printers cost $.10 per copy. An auditron (counter) may be checked out at the Circulation desk to print. The patron then pays when the auditron is returned.
If you have any questions about these policies, contact Bahram Refaei, Director of Access and Educational Media Services
Portland Campus
The Portland Campus has two photocopiers for patron use. Patrons must do their own copying and individuals using the copiers are responsible for any infringement of copyright law. Faculty may use the photocopier in the staff room. Please ask a library staff member for the correct access code.
Copies cost $.05 per copy. A one and five dollar bill changer is located in the photocopy room.
If you have questions about these policies, contact Patrice O'Donovan.
