Media Collection
The EMS media collection contains several thousand items that can be checked out and used by faculty, staff, students and town patrons, and Portland campus patrons. Our media collection is completely cataloged with Library of Congress call numbers, and, like the rest of the Linfield Libraries Collection, it is all included in Linfield WorldCat, our online catalog.
Tips for searching media in Linfield WorldCat: There are several options:- Limit to DVD or CD tab before searching.
- Limit by format, language, and other features from the left sidebar, after searching ALL.
- Use Advanced Search (link under the searchbox) to limit search beforehand by format, language and other features. (Example: To find the films we have in German, go to Advanced search. Change Keyword dropdown to Subject and type: Motion Pictures. Then select Format: Visual Material and Language: German.)
- Ask a librarian or other EMS staff!

Reserving Media for Class
Faculty (McMinnville, Portland or Adult Degree Program) can reserve media materials for use in their classes. It is advisable for faculty to plan ahead and reserve all the media materials they will want to use in a semester because materials also circulate to other libraries via ILL and Summit. Media materials can then be pulled from the shelves and held on a reserve shelf, where they are not available for off-campus borrowing.
Students can also check out materials for class projects, and, while we will not hold an item for a student over one week, we can place holds or recalls on an item to retrieve it for their use.
