Linfield library is happy to have you visit!

You are welcome to use many of our services and resources. There are some services which each college library makes available only its own students, faculty and staff. Those services are available to you from Chemeketa. Chemeketa's library will offer you access to research databases from your home or workplace via the Web, interlibrary loan services, and expert advice about using your library at Chemeketa. Chemeketa's library resources are detailed at http://library.chemeketa.edu/index.php

Computer Use

  • If you’d like to use one of our desktop computers please ask at the Circulation or Reference desk and we will log you on as a guest.
  • Once you log out any work you have done will not be saved on the computer so we highly recommend saving files to email, online storage sites, or a USB drive (which you can purchase for $10.00 at the Circulation desk if needed)
  • If we’re busy we will enforce our one hour/day time limit for visitors.
  • Printing is $0.05/page for black and white and $0.25/page for color. You may pay at the Circulation desk.
  • Please feel free to use our wireless network on your laptop, phone, or tablet (“CatNet_Public”) anywhere in the library. You cannot print from the wireless, however.

Finding a Place to Study in the Library
Feel free to use the building. Some areas are posted as quiet zones. There is a room with a fireplace. There are individual and group study rooms available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware that when the library is full (often during midterms and close to finals) Linfield students have priority for study room space here.  Please also note that after 6pm, group study rooms are for two or more people only.

    Finding Books

From Linfield library's home page use the central search box, "Linfield WorldCat" to find books or other materials. You can use the drop-down menu to limit your search to Linfield library only.

Use the same drop-down menu limited to the SUMMIT catalog to find books from our 36 partner libraries.  Since Chemeketa is one of our SUMMIT partners, you can order books via the SUMMIT catalog and if you wish, you can pick them up here.  For more information about setting that up please see the section of this page under "Library Cards".

Getting Books  found via your searches if they are not at Linfield or in Summit.  Contact your Chemeketa Community College's librarians about  Interlibrary Loan service for you for items not in Summit.

Finding Articles from Magazines or Journals

From Linfield library's home page, use one of the upper left links to find a wide variety of articles from both scholarly and popular periodicals.  The "Most Used Databases" will lead you to two multidisciplinary article databases we recommend as starting points for most academic topics:  Academic Search Premier and Academic OneFile.

For more databases by discipline area, select the link All Research Databases from the "Research Databases" menu choice on the upper left side of the library's home page to go to a list of resources by subject.

Many of the articles indexed via these databases will be full text. In that case, you can click on the words "HTML" or "PDF" to open the entire article, which you can print or email to yourself. But some of the indexed articles may be only available here in print or microfilm, and some may not be available here at all. This is one situation when a Reference Librarian comes in handy. Until you have used the library often you may miss something we have. Be sure to ASK before leaving empty-handed!

Articles not here: Once you and our reference staff have determined an article isn't available here, contact your Chemeketa Community College's librarians about  Interlibrary Loan service for you for articlest.
